Bisma Ahmed collation2011

Bisma Ahmed is an aspiring fashion designer born in Pakistan, and raised in Southern Africa.  Currently based in Dubai, she is a young fashion enthusiast with nifty fashion sense. Her creativity has no boundaries, and coming from a multi- cultural background, she is able to incorporate various diverse elements into her designs. Moreover, her willingness to experiment allows her to come up with unique design pieces which stand out.

She kept the color palette of the collection to pastel shades, keeping the forecasted color trends by Pantone in mind. While fellow designers showcased heavy Western influenced collections, Bisma decided to enthrall the audiences, which included a high ratio of foreign buyers and media, with her own culture. Her collection showcased what Pakistani women have been wearing, or would wear easily, and provided a good insight to the overseas spectators of what’s en vogue for the average woman.
This collection saw her collaboration with a leading Tissue paper brand Rose Petal, and her finale piece was a skillfully crafted, hand embellished and stitched baby blue gown made entirely from tissue. This Swarovski crystal embedded can-can dress did not only attract the who ever witnessed it, but also made an important social comment on fashion going green.
